Just How Energy Efficient Are Ductless Air Conditioning Units

Because a ductless air conditioning unit has no ducts, it becomes one of the most energy efficient since it avoids unnecessary loss of energy that is common in traditional heating and cooling home units. Central air conditioning units would use about 30% of their total energy just to make up for the energy losses that take place in ducts, especially if these ducts are found in non air-conditioned zones such as the attic. The other way in which ductless air conditioning units are more energy efficient is because of the ability to control and regulate cooling and/or heating only to specific zones where it is needed the most. This has been made possible with the availability of systems that have individual thermostats for each and every air handling unit installed. It is important to mention that while ductless mini splits are not always the best possible solution to an air conditioning and home heating problem that exists today, it does work perfectly for old homes.
